She is passionate about teaching motivated students step-by-step processes to learning the flute, performing in solo recitals and ensembles, and sharing her knowledge via blogging and school workshops. In 2019, Caitlin obtained a D.É.S.S. in Flute Performance from the Université de Montréal under the tutelage of Denis Bluteau, after having obtained a Bachelor’s Degree in Orchestral Performance from McGill University under the same teacher. She began her flute studies at the McGill Conservatory of Music at the age of nine and went on to earn a D.É.C. in Music at Vanier College under Heather Howes. Over the years, she participated in several competitions, notably winning the West Island Youth Symphony Orchestra (WIYSO) Concerto Competition in 2013. In July of 2019, Caitlin made her international debut at the Concours de flûte de Paris and placed in the semifinals. She has had the opportunity to perform in masterclasses for renowned flutists such as Julien Beaudiment, Jeffrey Khaner, and Claire Guimond, among others. A devoted chamber musician, Caitlin was a member of WIYSO as well as the Orchestre Symphonique des Jeunes de Montréal (OSJM), as principal flute. Caitlin was an active member of McGill’s Contemporary Music Ensemble, the McGill Wind Orchestra, and the Orchestre de l’Université de Montréal. She is now part of the duo Ensemble Camellia with clarinetist Emilia Segura. Caitlin has been teaching young flutists for over four years, both in her private home studio as well as the Fortissimo Academy of Music and Arts in Côte-St-Luc. She cannot wait to work with creative and curious flute students through JAMS!
