He holds a diploma in jazz performance from Mohawk College, and a bachelor’s degree in music therapy from Acadia University. As an accredited music therapist, Corey is eager to contribute to creating meaningful musical experiences with students studying with JAMS. Corey offers adaptive music lessons for students with special needs who would benefit from a personalized approach to private music lessons due to physical or mental health challenges. Corey primarily plays saxophone and guitar, but will also incorporate piano, percussion, and voice into his sessions. As a music therapist Corey seeks to use the creative process to encourage and motivate students working toward meaningful goals both within, and outside of music. The way in which these goals are approached is adapted to the needs and abilities of each student. This adaptive approach to music lessons allows students to progress at their own pace while being mindful to the overarching goals in their lives.
