Student Policy

Holiday Closures

  • Teachers will provide their individual annual availability (holidays, travel, etc) on the website (click here to learn more).

  • If students desire holidays or personal days off beyond their teacher's schedule, they must provide at least 2 weeks' notice.

  • Teachers are responsible to notify their students of changes to their annual availability.

Materials and Instruments

  • The cost of instruments, books, and other fees such as examinations and festivals are not included in your tuition and must be paid by the student separately.

Payment Methods and Requirements

  • For the subscription packages, all payments are to be made on the JAMS website. These will be automatically billed once per week to your credit card.

  • For bulk lessons, all payments will be made by e-transfer or PayPal.

  • All payments, withdrawal, and refunds will be processed by the administrator.

Missed Lessons and Make-up Policy

  • Students must provide the teacher 48 hours’ notice if they are unable to attend the scheduled lesson in order to receive a make-up lesson.

  • Students' make-up lessons must be scheduled and completed within 30 days of the missed lesson.

Withdrawals and Transfers

  • A student must provide 2 weeks’ notice to withdraw from the subscription plan.

  • Bulk lessons are non-refundable.

  • Students must provide 2 weeks’ notice for any changes to the lesson length, schedule, teacher, and instrument.

Trial Lessons

  • Trial lessons are free, 20 minutes long and are only available once per teacher.

  • Trial lessons are not mandatory; however they are encouraged so as to give both student and teacher a chance to get acquainted and ensure they are a good match!

Teachers’ Absence

  • If a scheduled lesson is cancelled by the teacher, a make-up lesson will be scheduled and completed as soon as possible.

  • If a student misses or cancels a scheduled make­up lesson, another one will not be scheduled.

  • JAMS reserves the right to provide a substitute teacher if the teacher will foreseeably miss one lesson or more. The substitute teacher will be qualified and approved by JAMS.

Late Arrivals

  • In the event of a student's late arrival, the student's lesson time will not be extended or made up.

  • Due to the technical nature of back-to-back video lessons, please allow for a few minutes' grace period at the start and/or end of lessons.

Multimedia/Marketing Release

  • JAMS will only use images or videos of students for marketing if express consent has been provided.
